Spoiler-free companion

Do you need to play the earlier games?

No. The One Behind You can be enjoyed on its own. But the developer recommends Play With Him and Stay With Him for players who want more context around its connected horror world.

Choose your route

Start with The One Behind You

Best if this is the game you found first or you want a compact standalone horror experience. You will still understand its immediate story.

Play the companion games first

Best if you enjoy recurring characters, themes and small connective details. Go in blind and avoid ending explanations until you finish each game.

Recommended order

  1. Play With Him. This is the earliest recommended companion piece and is useful for establishing the tone of the connected universe.
  2. Stay With Him. Continue with the next companion game for more context before the later story.
  3. The One Behind You. Play the downloadable Windows/Linux game last if you want the fullest contextual reading—or first if you simply want a self-contained 15–30 minute experience.

Keep the first playthrough clean

Don’t treat this as a lore checklist. The appeal of these short psychological horror games is their emotional timing: unsettling details work better when they are discovered inside the game, not read as explanations beforehand.

Official availability, downloads and creator updates should always be checked on Santiago Garcia’s itch.io profile.

After you finish

Return for the ending interpretation, then explore community reactions and full playthroughs. That sequence preserves the first-playthrough experience while giving visitors a reason to move between the site’s pages.
